WordPress mobile app for the iPhone? It’s like someone read my mind six months ago…

It’s basic but it allows me to at least draft some posts. Of course the hard part is still finishing them but no app can do that at present.

Guess there’s no excuse to not be blogging now… Apart from being lazy and using Twitter!

After our garden resurrection (read: tidy up) and it being officially the first proper nice day for a barbecue. Me and Jeff decided upon heading to Tesco for the usual supplies. You know, Disposable BBQ’s meat, corn on the cob and booze.

Once supplied, being so lazy, decided to get the 5 minute bus ride home (hey Jeff had 20 bottles of Stella to carry!) . It’s two stops. Should be pretty eventful right? Well not really…

The first stop a middle aged woman got on and commented on my threadless t-shirt

Ok fair enough we talked about it briefly and the conversation fizzled out like it should. Then she mentioned something about her cat. Ok.. now I knew she had passed the limit on public transport stranger conversation etiquette, so we kind of grunted and quietly ignored her.

Then we passed the common and she commented on the couples snogging in the park…

And then suddenly, as we got to the final bus stop she asked Jeff, recent engagee, if he fancied a snog. Jeff politely declined. Fair play though she admitted you don’t get unless you try.

Then she asked the bus driver for one as we all got off the bus. He said no too. He did have that protective glass thing so it may have been tricky anyway.

Then probably realising she has failed on the male passengers (did she ask me though?) she asked the female passenger leaving the bus. She said no too.

The last I hear the other woman was tying to spur her advances by saying she doesn’t “kiss” that way. Jeff and I started walking home that last 5 mins a bit quicker…

Summer is here.

I type this literally a few minutes after having a member of the local Conservative party visiting our. Thankfully Jeff answered and of course being American had the perfect excuse to politely move him on. I wasn’t really in the mood to talk to him. I seemed to be more concerned with playing Mario Kart then going to the door t speak to him.

The reason for his visit was of course for the upcoming London Mayor elections which currently if the polls are to be believed is very close. Realistically this means that Ken might be replaced by Boris. Charlie Brooker (who else) sums up his opinions on it with the Boris LOL!!!! brigade and he’s spot on.

I must confess, on the initial rumours of Boris running for Mayor, my reaction was “I hate the Tories but good on Boris running for it as he’s a ‘character’ in politics”. Plus he’s got mad hair and he’s a legend on the football field too. Of course now though actually living in London and actually giving a fuck about London Politics my opinion oh him has changed oh so much.

He craftily is going for the popular vote by looking at bringing back routemasters in some sort of form. Why? Who actually cares about the old routemasters? To me they seem as dated as red telephone boxes are these days. The fact that this is one of his main pledges shows really show me that his priorities should he become mayor are slightly worrying.

Ken’s no saint to be fair, but I must admit, transport in London isn’t as bad as some make out. Oyster (which apart from the paranoid) is a fantastic system, The Tubes are (mostly) reliable and are much safer to be on than a lot of major cities in the world.

So don’t Vote For Boris. Yeah?

Did you see that? That’s me coming out of my hibernation cave for another spring.

It’s 7pm, still light outside, very sunny, quite mild temperature and I’ve got the window open for one of the few times I’ve had it open since I’ve moved here in September.

I’ve got loads of fun things to do at work and shouldn’t have any unnecessary interruptions to distract from me doing them too. And Rangers are six points clear at the top.

Yes. It’s all good.

I stumbled upon the Jing Project from a colleague a few days ago. We’ve been looking at doing some sort of documentation for an update to one of our products and rather cleverly we’ve thought about doing a screencast on some of the new features with either my dry radio voice or his manc accent commentating in the background. The screencast files are easily saved as flash files which can then be streamed on our website. Genius!

As a sort of bonus I’ve also realised its got a great basic screenshot editor meaning you can highlight areas, insert arrows, text etc. Pretty simple stuff that is probably done just as well in other programs but it’s ability to automatically upload to my Flickr account is a bit of a unique feature and one which is going to be a lot useful. I’ve now got myself a screenshots set created on Flickr so expect to see a few more pics get added to there (particularity as I want to retake a lot of screenshots for the upcoming manual manual rewrite).

For quick screengrabs I’m still going to keep to the faithful Print Screen button and paste to Ifranview but Jing is a great little app to have.

So the anticipated spin off of the best UK police drama returns tonight alongside one of the best modern fictional TV characters out there. He’s even an author too.

It’s basically the same premise as Life was, only it’s the 80’s now. And its set in London. Which makes me pretty happy as I’ve made the similar journey from Manchester too.

Now with the inevitable success of Ashes to Ashes, they’re surely going to keep going for the next spin off, ‘Little Wonder’. Well come on, name me anther major Bowie hit in the 90’s?

Lego was the perfect toy for me and my over obsessional perfectionist mind when I was younger. I would go hours looking for a white 3 x 1 block to make sure it fitted in with the rest of the super deluxe police set I was constantly rebuilding from this set. Only to take it apart and rebuild something else. At one point I had a pretty damn impressive set.

Sadly my Lego was split between my two younger cousins which I am cynically guessing are now at their age at the bottom of their wardrobe untouched. is it wrong to ask for it back?

Its funny some songs improve 100% if they have a really memorable video accompanying it. There are loads that fall into the category to me. Off the top of my head Art of Noise with ‘Close to the Edit’, White Stripes – ‘Hardest Button to Button’ are two. But the latest one to me is ‘Nude’ by Radiohead from ‘In Rainbows’, which is maturing finer with each listen than erm a fine wine. I still can’t get the opening dubby bit out of my head today and it’s all down to seeing this video below:

It’s fantastic and simple as the most memorable visual videos should be. Shot at 100 frames a second and slowed right down, it fits the soundtrack so well. Anyway more tidbits on the video and some other Radiohead visual treats on Adam Buxtons blog.

It looks like Radiohead are playing a free gig in London tonight at the Rough Trade East Store. I would love to go but its going to packt like sardines in a crushd tin box.
